First of all, if you don’t know what merry widow is, it is vintage-inspired intimate apparel. A corselet designed in 1955 to shape up the belly and waist and push up the busts. Although this particular style of intimate apparel has fallen out of fashion of late, it is making a huge comeback.

This intimate apparel got its name from the gorgeous actress Lana Turner, who had first worn a corselet in her hit movie ‘Merry Widow’. Inspired by intimate apparel of such fashion that accentuated her bust line, the style was referred to as ‘Merry Widow.’  This type of a corselet had slim panels of black, elastic yarn netting. There was a zipper behind a velvet-backed flange, and the corselet was lined with nylon voile. Merry Widow had rigid boning. However, this intimate apparel is not designed to fasten as tightly as a corset.

Lana Turner once said, “I am telling you, the merry widow was designed by a man. A woman would never do that to another woman.” Ironically, Merry Widow became the most popular bridal intimate apparel of the era. Merry Widow also became a general term for corselet type of intimate apparels in the U.S.

So tell us ladies, do you own this beautiful type of intimate apparel or are you unable to find the perfect one? This ideal intimate apparel has miraculous powers of giving you an hour-glass figure so why not try on some oh-la-la corsets!
